Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 11, 2026
Calm-mute ("we", "the app") is a commute monitoring web app available at calmmute.com. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data is collected and how it is used.
What we collect
- Location data — Your GPS position is used in real-time to monitor your route and detect arrival. It is never stored on our servers. All location processing happens in your browser.
- Usage analytics — We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people use the app (e.g. how often monitoring is started). IP addresses are anonymised. No personal information is linked to analytics events.
- Locally stored preferences — Saved locations, arrival times, and settings are stored in your browser's localStorage only. We never transmit this data.
What we do not collect
- We do not collect your name, email, or any account information.
- We do not sell or share your data with third parties for advertising.
- We do not store your location history.
Third-party services
- Google Maps Platform — Used to display maps, calculate routes, and provide place autocomplete. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google Analytics 4 — Used for anonymous usage analytics with IP anonymisation enabled. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
- Netlify — Hosts the app and serves the Maps API key securely via a serverless function. Governed by Netlify's Privacy Policy.
Cookies
Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish users. No other cookies are used by this app.
Your rights
Since we don't collect personal data, there is nothing to delete or export. You can clear your localStorage at any time via your browser settings to remove saved locations and preferences.
